Snikiddy Snack Paddywhack Giveaway

I like to snack.  A lot.  Sometimes too much.  I never rarely go from one meal to the next without a nibble in between.  But I try to make them healthy.  Mostly.  And tasty.  And as much as I can I try to use my snacking as a way to increase my vegetable intake.  (Green bean fries, anyone?)

So I was intrigued when I was offered the chance to sample and review a snack that appeared to be both potentially tasty and healthy and… wait for it… vegified!  This was one offer that made me sit up and say, “Hmmm.”

And after I tried them, I sat up and said, “Mmmm.”

So let me tell you about Snikiddy®.  The company and their products were created by a mother and daughter team “for families actively looking for healthier foods that satisfy their snack cravings.”  “Healthy meets tasty.”  Sounds like snacking perfection to me:)

My husband and I were given three different products to sample, one from each of the product lines: Baked Fries, Cheese Puffs, and Eat Your Vegetables™.

My husband’s review:  “They’re good.”  When I asked him if he’d buy them for himself, he responded that it depended on price.

My review:  “They’re good.”  Let me tell you a bit more…

Let’s start with the Baked Fries; we had the cheddar cheese flavor.  They were tasty.  They reminded me of Andy Capp’s Fries, a flashback to my childhood.  (Does anyone else remember those?  Do they still make those?!)  They weren’t all that different in taste (just in texture) from the Grilled Cheese Puffs we tasted.  Also yummy.  It’s been years since I’ve had a traditional cheese puff but my guess is that this more nutritional version would be a great stand-in.  Both of these cheesy snacks packed a lot of flavor.

My favorite snack (and also my husband’s), and the one I had been most eager to try, was the Eat Your Vegetables™.  We were given the Sea Salt flavor and I’d have happily sampled them all.  This was one tasty chip!  (Or, in our case, thanks to shipping, chip crumbs.)  And what I really love is that each 1 oz. serving (13 chips) contains a full serving of vegetables!  (According to the product label the veggies include beans, potato, carrot, and sweet potato.  And, of course, all sorts of other non-veggie ingredients as well.)

Because I was curious (and since I’m all about getting the most volume for my snacking calories when possible,) I measured out a portion of each snack to compare serving sizes.  All are 1-ounce and contain between 120-130 calories.  You get the most bang for your buck with the Cheese Puffs and the least with the chips.

You might be wondering if I’d buy these for myself.  Honestly, probably not.  I’d be very tempted by the Eat Your Vegetables™ chips, but “temptation” is a four-letter word in my book.  And, as you know, moderation and I are still working hard to become friends.  What seems to work best for me is to just not keep any “snack food” in the house at all, no matter how healthy.  If it’s here, I’ll want it.  If it’s here, I’ll sometimes (or all the time) choose it over my typical snacks (mostly veggies, fruit, and fat-free cheese).  And for those wondering how I did with these snacks staring me in the face… I ate two fries, two puffs, and a whole serving of the chips.  Moderation in action:)

If you are looking for a healthier “junk food” substitute for yourself or your family, I would definitely recommend you give these a try.

And, to help you do just that, Snikiddy® is sponsoring a giveaway to one lucky reader which will include not only a box of their yummy snacks, but also a $25 grocery gift card.

  1. I can’t enter being an Aussie, but am intrigued. I’m not great with veges, so the idea of the vege chip (with a range of veges) sounds tempting… though they probably aren’t gluten free!

  2. I have tried this brand of snacks and they’re delicious! If I knew how to do link ups or could remember my fb password I would enter more.

  3. Hi Karen – I had never heard of these snacks so thanks for sharing! I liked them on Facebook and followed on Twitter!

  4. No need to enter me in the drawing. I wouldn’t eat any of these except the Eat Your Vegetables ones anyway. Cheese-like puffs — not at the top of my list. I’ve never heard of this brand. Interesting.

  5. You don’t need to enter me either. I’m family and most laws don’t let family members enter contests. I really try to keep those kind of things out of my house. I’d eat too many of them otherwise. Cheese puffs are the worst that way. I’d eat the whole bag. I’m usually pretty good about snacking, but I’ve learned that there are certain things I can’t control. I tend to eat nuts as snacks. Good for me and satisfying and they don’t make me want to eat too many.

These look really good; I think my husband would really like them. I generally eat crunchy raw veggies with a little almond butter for a healthy snack.

  7. Cammy was offered this same giveaway, so we had an official tasting in Nashville this weekend! Well, sort of….she conveniently left the cheese puffs in here room and just casually mentioned that they were her favorite! LOL! I didn’t care for the baked fries at all. Tasted like cardboard and zero cheese flavor. But I LOVED the Eat Your Vegetables. And therein lies the problem. Anything chip related is a trigger food for me. I probably shouldn’t even have tasted, but made sure Cammy took the rest of the bag back with her. We found all three at Whole Foods at comparable prices to the rest of their chip selection.

WOuld love to win the giveaway.

  8. Oh my goodness those snacks are my favorite, especially since i’m allergic to gluten. The ‘fries’ are my favorite but really I will down any of them. I liked them on Facebook and twitter as well!

I would love to try the Eat Your Vegetable chips!

As someone who has graduated from the “eat whatever you want as long as you eat it in a portion-controlled way” school of thought and now subscribes to “don’t eat it if it comes in a bag, is processed and covered with cheese of any sort,” I have to add my two cents by saying that those of us who live for carbs are adding unnecessary and non-vitamin enriched calories to our diet with products like these. While I love to eat tasty snacks as much as anyone, I get more mileage from a handful of almonds than I do from stuff like this. And if you are a compulsive eater or binge eater, snacks like these are like drugs (you know who you are). That being said, I’ll pass!

    • My philosophy is similar but different. I don’t buy and eat this stuff, not as much because it is processed (although that is in the back of my head), but because I would choose it over something more healthy. I’ve learned this about myself, slowly, over the years. The best way for me to eat “well” is to keep foods in the house that fit my plan and to NOT have foods that don’t. BUT, I know many people who can handle some moderation in their lives and it suits them. Seems many of us have something we eat that the experts might tell us is less than ideal.

  11. Karen, no need to enter me since I am doing this one too!!! I may copy your pic AND link back here since I don’t have cute dishes like you plus people can read your opinion too.

I told them that this was not really something I would eat BUT I know others don’t eat the same as me & I wanted to test them out on hubby & family as a way to give them a healthier alternative to their chips & crackers. 😉 Hubby likes so far! 🙂

    • I wish I was a better photographer! It was a cloudy day and I didn’t want to wait for better lighting to open and taste the snacks! I told them that I really wanted the veggie ones and thought they were going to send me several of those to try. Oh well.

  12. Why not give this a try, though like you, if I like them too much, they become another “forbidden fruit” upon which to potentially binge.

I commend you on a very nice review!! 🙂

  13. These look fantastic – I would probably go for the cheese puffs, myself. Still can’t get out of the habit of looking at serving size sometimes, but truthfully, anything labeled ‘cheese’ is what I’d go for anyway. I haven’t seen these around here but will be on the lookout now that I know about them!

    • Me too which is exactly why I measured. I was impressed with the size of the cheese puff serving. Of course I also was always impressed with how many Goldfish make a serving and I gave those up years ago:)

  14. No entry for me since I’m also reviewing them, but I did want to let Daphne know she could enter my contest later this week since we’re not related. (I don’t think we are, anyway.) 🙂

  15. Put my name in the random generator two times. I liked on Facebook.

65MD is always looking for something crunchy & healthy to have with soup or sandwich at lunch time. These just might fit the bill.

  16. I’d love to try those eat your vegetables ones, especially for my daughter.
I always wonder if that full serving of veggies or whatever other healthy stuff is in things like this, is actually still viable after all the processing. Do you know what I mean? Is there *really* nourishing veggie goodness in there? I guess I should research that.
I’d definitely eat the cheese puffs to excess (sigh).

    • I do know what you mean and don’t know the answer. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt because this company was clearly started to find healthy snacks for kids.

  17. My favorite healthy snack is veggies dipped in hummus. Yum!

I liked them on FB and follow them on Twitter too! And I linked up your giveaway on FB. So five total entries for me. Thanks for the giveaway!

  18. Pat B.

I love their baked fries. Would like to try the Eat your Veg.

  19. I can’t enter the giveaway because I’m in Canada, but just wanted to chime in that we tried the Eat Your Vegetables chips this weekend for the first time, and we LOVED them. They were a bit pricey, but if they’re on sale, we’ll absolutely buy them. Have a great weekend Karen.

  20. I most want to try the Eat Your Vegetables chips! I linked to this on facebook, too.

  21. Miz

this is everything my HUSBAND never knew he wanted:)

  22. I have tried the baked fries and thought they were okay but I didn’t buy them again. Like you the snacky carby stuff seems to trigger overeating for me!

  23. I think if these were in my house the one ounce serving would turn into 3 or 4. These foods are a danger for me. I wish I did not have this problem!!!

  24. I could easily open that bag of cheese puffs, crank my head all the way back, and let the puffs fall into my food trap at high rate of speed. Just sayin’

  25. I HAVE to stay away from stuff like that, or I’ll just “go to town” :p

  26. I try to avoid those snack type foods. They never satisfy me. – Maureen

  27. Jennifer H

I would love to try the Eat your Vegtables chips. I also liked them on Facebook.

I snack on everything unfortunately. I’d love to try something healthy!
