May Day

In honor of the new month:

I may… splurge on a birthday treat.  I am not sure what it will be yet, but I am leaning towards chocolate fondue at home, which my boys love and I can eat more of the fruit and less of the other dipping treats.

I may… finally get the good news from my orthopedic that my fracture is healed.  I may… be able to ride my bike outside and go back to yoga and pilates and lift weights again.  I may… be able to sleep on that side again.

I may… make lasagna for my son when he is home from college for a week, since he requested it.  I may not eat any, it really does not sound tempting at all right now.

I may… enter my food into fitday just out of curiosity to see how many calories and carbs I am eating.  Or I may decide that is just too much effort.

I may… finally break my addiction to Triscuits.  Yes, there are several boxes still living in the car.  They were on sale months ago, what can I say?  I may… tell my husband to eat them.  I may… decide I can handle them again and try one more time.  I may… drive you crazy with my obsession over a stupid cracker.

I may… remember to wish Anna and Losingmore a happy birthday too.  But I am getting old and my memory is … hmm… I forget.  So just in case, “happy birthday ladies!”  Any more birthdays coming up?

I may… try brussel sprouts.  Or I may not.  But I probably will try maple glazed roasted carrots:)

I may… make a dent in the backlog of TV shows on our two digital recorders.  I may… finally conquer the snacking-while-watching habit.  And the snacking-while-reading habit.  And the snacking-while-doing-nothing habit.

I may… walk outside more before the summer heat arrives.  I may… get motivated to do it even if I can’t someone to keep me company.  Or I may not.

I may… be able to celebrate with my teen if he gets a summer job.  I may… let him sleep late when school ends in four short weeks.

I may… order something from a CSA for the first time.  I may find it worth the money or I may find we just don’t eat what we get.

I may… purge clothes.  The too big ones, the ones I just haven’t worn in years regardless of size, the ones that are too out of style to ever wear again.

I may… celebrate Mother’s Day on the real date or I may wait until my oldest is home.  I may… get to enjoy a clean, clutter-free house for that one day since my family knows that is a gift that makes me happy:)

I may… make my first trip of the season to the farmer’s market.

I may… try my friend’s Wii Fit to see how I like it.  I may… ask for it for my birthday if I like it enough.  I may not.

I may… be slim and trim and fit and fab:)  I may!

What may you do this month?

  1. I may… treat myself to a giant ice cream cone for my birthday tomorrow!

    I may… do laundry today.

I may… make my first sale on Etsy this month– my shop just opened two days ago! (Shameless plug: yesteacher.etsy.com)

I may… make it to the end of this school year!

    Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

Happy birthday! Ice cream sounds good… I have not had it in a very long time. But what flavor would I choose?!

  2. I may make some barrettes for my baby girl.
I may get my tush back into my exercise routine. It needs it. 🙂
I may plan a shopping trip with my best friend.

    But I’m not giving up Triscuits . . . or chocolate! 🙂

    Happy SITS Saturday!

    • Karen

I can’t imagine giving up chocolate either! But right now the only chocolate I am regularly eating is sugar free pudding. It is amazing how good those can taste when there are no more decadent choices.

  3. I may pray for no tornadoes.
I may look for a new bicycle.
I may spend quality time with my kids.
I definitely will do some of those things!

No tornadoes would be good here too. And sometimes I think about a new bike. Something light and fast… or maybe I just need to pedal harder.

  4. I may finish my home remodel.
I may go for a 20-mile bike ride.
I may manage to forget that I have two full-sized candy bars in my fridge.
I may hang out here a lot…and commiserate or celebrate. Possibly both. 🙂

What are those candy bars doing there? I hope you do hang out, Cammy. You have inspired me and made me laugh with your comments.

  5. I may go to see Sex and the City 2 the opening weekend.

A Wii-Fit, that would keep you busy.

Came to say hi, thanks for stopping on my blog earlier.

  7. First of all, happy birthday! My birthday was yesterday, and I had about 5 chocolate peanut butter cupcakes today. 😮 I’m staying out of them for the rest of the day, though. 🙂

Oh, and GET RID OF THE OLD CLOTHES!! NOW! Cause I said so. 🙂

Hope you have a fabulous day!

Happy birthday Hope! I thought about cupcakes for my treat. I understand there is a new store in town that has great ones. Much better portion control than a whole cake. But I would want to try so many flavors. Sigh.

My birthday is still a few weeks away. So plenty of time to dream about my splurge.

  8. I May… break the run of I Mays comments…

Found your blog through your comment on Genie’s recent post, have read back through your current posts and will probably read through your older posts.

I admire your spunk and your determination very much! Thank you for taking the time to blog… it’s inspiring for me right now as I begin to face and recover from overeating as a lifetime habit.

Hope you won’t be offended by this suggestion: Get the Triscuits and throw them away. You could also give them to a foodbank or something, but it is even more of a symbolic gesture to throw them in the trash.

    I’ll be back!

    • Karen

I stopped by your blog and left you comments there. I appreciate your honesty – and am not the least bit offended:)

      • How are you doing with your “By Yourself Time?”

Thanks for visiting my blog and your comment. I appreciate your honesty too. Also, I did return and read all of your older posts… It’s inspiring to follow your journey… and gives me some good ideas for mine.

Throwing away the Triscuits would be a symbolic act, one that is empowering. I did it with chocolate cany one time… hurled one piece at a time as far as I could into the forest. The act itself flipped a switch somehow on my cravings for chocolate. Maybe I’ll write a post about that experience.

I am doing okay. Yesterday dragged on and I chewed an awful lot of gum in the evening. Longest weekend ever!

  9. happy birthday!!!

    i loved your list!

    as for me…

i may (ok, i know!) i will enjoy the overnight get-away with my husband when we leave early this afternoon.

i may be hosting a ton of people at my house on mother’s day. still working out the plan with my s-i-l.

i may spend some more quality time with my kids.

i may remember to take some time for myself each day to meditate, if only for a couple of minutes.

    • Karen

Thanks… it is not actually for a few weeks yet. Hosting the people at your house is a good thing… you can control the menu! Most years we do just that here, the local family, something on the grill. I am looking forward to hearing about your trip.

  10. I may enjoy my start at the gym, and I MAY start C25K

And btw enjoyed finding and reading your blog tonight.

Thanks Aylilth. I have to say that I have never been or wanted to be a runner, but I keep thinking about C25K. I may… try that myself, when my injury is healed.

  11. I may go to the doctors for a check up
I may go to the circus with my kids
I may stop watching deserate house wives
    I may keep watching LOST
I may play more games with the kids
I may go for a walk and get lost on purpose…ummm

Wait – why stop with with the housewives? I am about 3 weeks behind so don’t give anything away. I am only 1 week behind on Lost! But that is almost over.

  12. Great list. I *may* do a lot of these myself! I really need to go through my closet this month. You know I haven’t had time to do any of my spring cleaning yet. Kind of sad actually! 🙂

  13. Genie

    I want to play!

I may write a book titled: “I Got Fat on Wheat Thins”

I may give advice: “Don’t try brussel sprouts, blech!”

I may spend the day doing this, but I have to get my act together and get some work done around my house….

This may have been too much fun, Karen! Thanks!

    • Karen

So I have a problem with Triscuits but I don’t dare go near Wheat thins! Much tastier and less straw-like. If I try the brussel sprouts I will report on it.

  14. Karen, what a great post!
For me it was “I may get my butt in gear and get a blog post up!” and “I may get my butt in gear and get over to my friends’ blogs and read what’s been going on with them for the last week!”

Also, and seriously, I may continue editing my book so one day I’ll be a published author. I may somehow do all the above and still find time for my husband.

    May, the month of possibilities!
